I know I must have bitched about writing that Fellini essay here... but anyway I turned in the rough draft because it's our final paper and he wanted us to turn them in so he could go over them and make suggestions and we could resubmit them edited for a final grade and this is what he wrote on mine:

Quote
Jennifer: Magnificent! This is a great draft. I’ve made a few comments about an occasional wayward sentence, run-on, or missing (or extra) comma. These are minor things. The most impressive feature of this remarkably smart essay is your willingness to go beyond a polemical reading to one that focuses on the real issues that the film presents – the most significant of which might be articulated as the collision between desire and need. Guido, like all human beings, needs love, but he has convoluted that need into a peculiar set of desires – all of which seem like desperate attempts to recover the absolute (and highly romanticized) loves of his past. You’ve done a great job here.

Right now this is an A paper. Clean it up a bit and it’s an A+. I don’t know what level your are in your studies, but you might want to submit this for an award in the English department’s Kellogg Awards next year.
Really fine work … thanks!

I'm so proud.  I was so stressed about this essay.

That's awesome!  I would love to read your essay.  If I'm not mistaken (I thought I saw this on your facebook), the essay was on 8 1/2, right?

You should critique his response and send it in with your revision...

"I noticed on your suggestions that you... . "

To say you were stressed is a magnificent exercise in understatement BTW.

Congrats.

Jenifer you are an extraordinarily gifted writer and the way you think outside the box is fantastic. Fellini is a difficult subject at best but thankfully infinitely interesting. I hope you put it up and share it soon because I have almost no patience and I'm dying to read it! Congratulations, congratulations, congratulations!
