I read stuff written by living poets

These guys ain't my contemporaries

Their constructions are as heartfelt as mine, to be sure

However,

their couching is exquisite, delicate, sophisticated and artful

Not at all like my homemade, amateur weld, I Beam backyard
projects

The schooling apparent in their renderings is applaudable

Me, well-- the sincerity of what is presented is not my defense

Hell, I'm more about removing defense

Negating the value of boundaries via exposing their gossamer
material

That sort of thing

Wut da fuk duz dees meen, mon?

Fer 'xample, 'olmes-- take shootin'

le's break it down to the bullet

De average Joe gonna buy his self a box a factory made .40

Guaranteed big bangs for your bucks

Round was invented by S&W in 1990/result of the 9mm failing at
the '86 Miami shootout

Most trigger twitchers don' know/don' wanna know all that
schmack

Me-- I gotta work at the root of what is

So, after I click "publish" on the blog thing off to the right of where
these letters are appearing

I shall return to old t shirt wiping the outside of some .45
Colt cartridges that are piled at my feet

Hand made stuff

Personally poked out the used primer, ream brushed the flash hole
shiny, pressed in a fresh cap to a depth of 1/64 from face

Dropped enough Trail Boss to launch the bullet out the barrel at
about 790 feet per second

Put in aforementioned bullet, a creation of melted lead (800
degrees) that was poured into a wood handled steel mould (Keith
style/250 grains) which, after cooling, was grease groove thumb lubed
with a concoction of Crisco, candle wax and olive oil
before taking its place atop the inch and a quarter
long powdered and primed case

then

rotated to the last press position where the brass is roll crimped
into the other groove

At the end of all this activity it is a good idea to remove schmeckel
that is on the outside

Neatness counts

Back in 1872, when this critter made its debut, it was usin' Black
Powder as a propellent

Thus the large casing

These days we have other colors of powder and we don't need all
that space to get the original speeds (crowdin' a 1,ooo fps)

So why does the round still exist?

Maybe 'cause some folks are still usin' 100+ year old Cowboy guns
and this is what fits in 'em

Maybe 'cause some folks are usin' just built last year guns and this
is what they were built for

I dunno

I just figger I can't see ignorin' somethin' that ain't failed to down
varmint, venison or villian yet jes' to experiment with the new kid
on the block

So

y'all continue to dance educated like on that shiny linoleum

I shall continue to shuffle upon the earth, thank you kindly

A story derives from the writer's perceptive observation and careful report of scene and from structural discipline.
