I found out today that on the 6th March a man whose music affected me so much had taken his own life with a shotgun. Most will never have heard his songs, or those of his band Sparklehorse, but I hope some of you will search it out and listen to the fractured sounds of a man falling apart in the most poetic of ways. Goodnight Mark, I hope you find peace among the cows and birds.

Nope. Hadn't heard of him till just now,
but I'll never forget him.

Great loss.

And thanks for passing along his music, Red.

Sad.

I've never really had a musician I love this much die quite so suddenly. I mean I like a lot of dead musicians work, but it's very strange listening to their work so soon after they've done something so barbaric.

I was munching my cornflakes at 6:30am listening to vivadixiesubmarinetransmissionplot
and I felt quite emotional. That album was recorded on his farm and contains lots of weird noises of farm machinery. It is music for poets. His family quoted from one of his songs when they made a statement...

"There's a heaven and there's a star for you"

It's funny how prophetic music can sometimes be. I'm glad it found new ears Father Luke, I hope you enjoy it as much as I have
