Lately the words voice and style seem to be fueling some fires as well as some other terms and ideas.  We're people and part of the work of writing is being ourself.  This doesn't mean we can't employ more than one style.

Why has this become a problem, or maybe it's just a symptom?

We recently had a problem with plagerism.  The person in question had become endeared to many of us who thought we knew them. Unfortunately we were duped.  It did create a stir on a lot of forums.  Many of us felt we should have caught the person earlier because of frequent style changes.

Whatever that persons problem was, the mind games that were played on us were their fault  not ours.  We were fortunate the person was caught.

The best test is to check to see if someone's work is similar to another person.  One author caught the person by using her titles on google or first lines of a poem.  That's how it was caught at that time.

I'm probably hedging because I've only seen one or two referrences that I thought might apply.  If so ignore me.

LOL..
wait.. did they send in plagiarized poems to the actual magazine or were they posting plagiarized poems in the forums? i don't understand the relevance of the latter.

OR.. were they stealing other peoples' poems FROM the forums and submitting them elsewhere?

PLEASE--i would really like to know.  Huh?

I don't think they were submitted to the magazine, but the rest was happening, yes. some made it in the newsletter as well!

Thankfully, only the bad stuff was plagarized, so I hear - no accounting for distaste.
